Nowadays many people have access to computers on a wide basis and a large number of children play computer games. What are the negative impacts of playing computer games?  What can be done to minimize the bad effects?

Personal electronic devices have become an inevitable part of practically every household, which has led to a situation when children might spend most of their free time playing computer games. One of the problems it causes is an increased number of health problems due to sedentiary lifestyle and the most viable solution might be to encourage outdoor activities through more accessible sport facilities.

In a modern world the one cannot function properly without a personal computer, which helps in many situations. Computer games are one of the ways how children spend their free time, which is not a bad thing in itself. However, spending too much time at home means children do not get enough exercise. This in turn leads to a number of health and mental problems. For example, the latest study help by the World Health Organization reports about an increase in obessity level among children by 50% comparing to the middle of the 20th century.

This is a complex problem, which should be addressed on multiple levels. One of the things which should be done by parents is limiting screen time for children according to their age. However, the problem cannot be solved by restrictive measures exclusively and some alternatives to computer games should be offered. For that reason governments should increase availability and accessibility of various sport and outdoor facilities so that children get involved into healthy activities. For example, according to survey held in Germany in 2015, children from families with at least one playground in their neighbourhood spent 70% less time playing computer games.

In conclusion, computer games result in health problems caused by reduced level of physical activity and parents should limit children’s screen time while governments should offer a substitute in a form of more accessible sport facilities.

People nowadays sleep less than they used to in the past. What do you think is the reason behind this? What are the effects on individuals and people around them?

Sleep deprivation has become a common issue our days, becoming a plague of 21st century. In a fast-changing environment with an overwhelming amount of information, people are sacrificing their health to keep up with modern lifestyle. This behavior puts individuals in a state of a constant stress, projecting effects even further in a form of anxiety in children and cultivating a toxic environment.

The main reason for a lack of sleep is the necessity to keep up in a modern, always changing environment. Individuals are trying to squeze as much as possible from 24 hours and healthy sleep is the first thing that gets sacrificed. Another compelling reason is the abundance of information projected upon us through various electronic devices. When people consume too much information, it clutters their minds, resulting in sleep problems. According to a survey held by the World Health Organization, 76% of respondents admired they require at least an hour to fall asleep because they cannot make their brain stop processing all the information it has got during the day.

Such ignorance of a most vital function of a human body undoubtly leads to a number of consequences. The foremost effect it has on an individual is an increased stress level. The one just cannot get enough rest to start every day fresh and relaxed. But even worse, the effects do not stop here. Overly stressed people significantly affect their environment, making everyone around them suffer from toxic communications and relationships with such people. It also has negative effect on grown ups, who might develop anxiety having a parent who is always stressed. Some pediatrists ring a bell stating that percentage of an anxiety disorder in children has increased lately by 25%.

In conclusion, it is clear that modern fast-pacing lifestyle with an information overuse results in a significant impact on society’s mental health, provoking stress development in individuals, cultivation of toxic environment and some health problems in children, such as increased levels of anxiety.

People nowadays sleep less than they used to in the past. What do you think is the reason behind this? What are the effects on individuals and people around them?

It is observed that people at the present time are not having enough hours of sleep. This essay will first suggest that the modern lifestyle is a possible reason of that problem and then discuss how it damages a person’s health.

Nowadays people who live in metropolitan cities tend to replace their important sleeping hours with some kind of activity. They often would study or work until the wee hours, take a short nap, then grab a cup of coffee in the morning and go to work or university. At the weekends, when they do not have any work to do, instead of taking a rest they go partying until midnight or even longer. That is how they spend almost every day of their life. For example, a recent government survey found that 65% of teenagers that live in big cities sleep less than 6 hours per day.

Sleep is an essential part of our life. It allows person’s organism to rest and regenerate, so the next morning they would wake up with a full of energy and feeling refreshed. However, if human does not get enough sleep, it could lead to  serious health problems, such as high stress rate and insomnia. Tired person also gets nervous and mentally unstable, which has a negative impact on a relationship with people around them. It is clearly shown in Japan, where overworking without sleeping enough is one of the leading causes of death in the country — more than a thousand people die from this unhealthy habit every year.

In conclusion, the way people live nowadays leads to a improper sleeping regime that later could badly affect their health.

Nowadays, many people have cosmetic surgery to enhance their appearance. Why are they doing this? Is this a positive or a negative development?

In recent years, a large number of people undergoing cosmetic surgery to improve their beauty. There are some reasons for that and one of them is that cosmetic procedure is available for the majority of people currently and I think this is a negative trend because there is a high risk of having negative consequences.

Nowadays, the technological advances in cosmetic surgery have made it safer and less invasive, with a faster recovery time, as well as lowering the cost of procedures. Some people tend to not to like natural features they are born with and plastic procedure can help them to achieve a desirable look for a reasonable price. For example, injection with Botox was introduced into cosmetics by Clark and Berris in 1989 and currently it is the most popular and available procedure for slowing aging process.

There are some serious risks of having plastic surgery such as infection and nerve damage. Also, plastic surgery is permanent and irreversible. Once people decide to get cosmetic procedure, the changes that have been made will stay for the rest of their life. For instance, buccal fat removal was a trend procedure in 2022 that makes the face slimmer and help to get rid of puffiness of face. However, this procedure can lead to numbness and face nerve injury. In addition, because this surgery makes face look older, some people may not be satisfied with the result although it is not possible to reverse the procedure.

In conclusion, people change appearance with surgery because it has become accessible,  although plastic procedure has adverse effect on people’s health condition.

In some countries, people these days spend very little time with their children. What are the causes of this? Whom does this affect more, parents or children?

Nowadays, parents spend less time with their children. This essay will argue that the main reason for parents allocating less time to children is an altered modern society and one of the side effects is that youngsters will be mentally isolated and will not grow up well.

Today people are thoroughly keen on trends and spend their time on social media. Despite the fact that new technologies allow adults to work on gadgets almost all day, they still spend their free time on social media after coming home. As a result, most parents do not even inquire about their children's well-being, which could lead to problems in their relationship. For example, a recent government survey found that 42% of families spend dinner nights on their phones instead of talking or discussing the news.

Spending less time with a kid can have detrimental effect on their mental health. Since children need to develop many skills in order to grow, parents should accompany and encourage them. Ignoring and paying no attention to youngsters can bring on trust as well as attention issues in the long run. Moreover, juveniles lacking support can isolate themselves from society, which can lead to  mental disorders. For instance, a recent study at Harvard University showed that every fifth student had an anxiety disorder and one of the underlying causes included past childhood traumas.

In conclusion, new technologies such as gadgets are one of the causes of adults spending less time with their children and it can lead to a child having mental trauma.

An increasing number of developing countries are expanding their tourist industry. Why do you think it is the case? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

In recent years, the expansion of the tourist industry in the developing countries is clearly seen. This essay will first discuss that the tourism is increasing as it promises boosting the economy development, followed by the opinion on the positive development of this expansion.

Many countries have been goaling to enhance the tourism sector in order to improve their structure of the economy and the state of public authority budget. The most important feature of the activities related to tourism is that they contribute to the countries’ priority aim such as the production of income and foreign exchange earnings. Moreover, some developing world’s earnings are directly driven by tourist industry. For instance, in the Maldives, which is the most reliant on tourism country, tourism area has become a dynamic force in their gross domestic product.

I personally believe that the enhancement of tourism is a positive development for these countries. Since most developing countries have low industrial development, the tourism provides generation of jobs in these regions. A growing number of local people are being involved in personal services such as in touristic attraction places, transport, accommodation and entertainment, and that is why the driving force of their incomes is foreign visitors. To illustrate, the Caribbean hotels account for 75 per cent of tourism employment.

In conclusion, there is a growing trend in the development of the tourist industry in developing countries as it is significant export sector for national economy and it benefits to regional economy by creating job opportunities.

Nowadays, many people spend less and less time with family. Why is this happening? How does this affect individuals and their families?

In the recent years, the majority of people having less family time. This essay will argue that this happens because many people are focusing on building the career and this tendency can lead to general dissatisfaction of life among particular people and loosing connections among family members.

In today’s society, career has become a priority over personal ties for most people. A high paid job requires many hours of hard work, so it is time and energy consuming. As a result, adults have less quality time with their family. For example, a group of Behavioral Scientists led by Ashley Whillanslong, conducted a study in 2021 involving three experiments and one survey, and analyzed a database of more than 77,000 people to find possible causes of allocating little time for family. Results point to one main reason: people dedicate most of their time to their work because they are eager to move up the career ladder.

People who sacrifice their family to put their career first are less happy because it is known that time spent with family increases the level of happiness and well-being. In addition, family bond can fade due to little interactions which can evoke negative feelings in individuals such as loneliness and sadness. For instance, a major study in 2021 from Cigna on loneliness found that feelings of isolation and loneliness are on the rise amongst Americans who spend about 1 hour per day of quality time with their family comparing to people who spend more than 2 hours.

In conclusion, the reason of spending less time with family is concentrating on career development and the consequences of that are unhappy life and deterioration of relationships between relatives.
