Here is what you should do:

1. Read something you enjoy every day. It doesn’t matter what it is. Go to a bookstore. Browse and look around. See what you like. Create a reading culture in your own life. Learn to read for fun and you will be more confident on test day. At this point don’t worry about speed.

2. Next learn how to apply the reading skills on the test. This is where you need a strategy. Use the skills of skimming, scanning, and reading for detail. Do practice tests after you have learned the strategy and practiced it.

3. Try this exercise: choose a newspaper article, read it, write down everything you remember for 5 minutes only. If you do this every day your reading speed and your comprehension will improve quickly.
