More and more people are finding it increasingly important to wear fashionable clothes. Is this attitude to wearing clothes a positive development or negative?

In recent times, the importance of wearing trendy clothes is rising. This essay illustrates that this tendency has been developing negatively because out of fashion clothes are mostly binned over time causing environmental issues. In addition, people spend on these clothes a huge amount of money which might be saved for their future.

Fashionable clothing is usually a temporary trend which means people keep buying new clothes each season. Our clothing is mostly made from synthetic fibres which is non-biodegradable. In other words, these plastic fibres can take hundreds of years to decompose and have a negative impact on the environment. For instance, a recent article in “Nature” has discovered that one family in the UK throw away thirty kilograms of clothes in a year and most of these go directly to landfill or burned.

Another reason why being into fashion is a negative trend is because trendy clothes are quite costly or even might be overpriced due to a brand. To put in another way, spending money on this garment can make people feel happy for a short time, but it will not help to reach the future goals. Having savings on the bank account makes people to be more financially secure for the future than wearing new suit for one season.

To conclude, it is clear seen that tendency to buying new clothes is a negative development as it brings environmental and financial problems. The overloaded landfills harm the whole ecosystem and people might keep money for more useful savings.

People are becoming too dependent on the internet and phone. Is it a positive or negative development?

Today, the internet and mobile phones have become ingrained in people’s lives, resulting excessive dependence. This essay explains that this is a negative development because it ruins real-life connections and decreases people’s productivity at work.

The increasing dependency on the internet and smartphones will negatively impact a person's relationships and engagement with other people, affecting their life. In other words, with more usage of devices, people participate less in meaningful conversations, and spend less time interacting with family and friends which results in losing emotional bonds and degradation of communication skills. For instance, people nowadays prefer texting or chatting online over meeting in person. According to the recent survey, 64% of young people find it challenging to make friends and dates offline, rather than via social media platforms.

Heavy smartphone use has an adverse effect on people’s work productivity. Thus, when people struggle focusing on work, it affects completion tasks on time because employees are often distracted by smartphones, and consequently they work late hours and overtime. According to the recent Business Magazine article, employees who spend more than four hours on social media daily report taking longer on assignments and meeting deadlines, while also suffering from reduced creativity.
